It is suggested that you use Windows SQL Server 2017 or higher when setting up manexSQL. This will provide the best performance and most longevity for your system.
Once setup is concluded, users must apply a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to the IIS site in order to ensure proper security is in place while using manexSQL.
To apply an SSL on your IIS site, you will need to purchase a certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA). This certificate will be required when you acquire the SQL server and set up IIS. If you already have SQL purchased and IIS installed, the certificate can be added.
Below are the steps:
- Create an official certificate request in IIS: https://www.iis.net/learn/manage/configuring-security/how-to-set-up-ssl-on-iis
- Get the text file of the IIS certificate and purchase the certificate from a Certificate Authority.
- The Certificate Authority will provide a .csr file (your certificate) using the text file you created.
- Configure the site using that certificate.

In order to run the latest version of manexSQL, you must have asp.net 4.5 installed. It can be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/
