When parts are purchased, they may have several different kinds of packaging. Some examples of the way parts may come are:
- in boxes at the convenience of the vendor
- in reels for automatic machine operations
- in tubes for automatic and semi-automatic operations
- in crates for protection and handling
- on pallets for handling
- in barrels for storage
- in six-packs for convenience, in bulk
The user may identify these packaging properties in the Item Master part descriptions so that other users will know what to expect in the way of storage, handling, and issuance to production when the parts arrive. The package descriptions entered may be up to 15 characters long.
